Wim and Jeroen are pioneers in social business. In the early 2000s, they formed the board of one of the first social enterprises. This Fairtrade company called AgroFair was created by Solidaridad to revolutionize the banana market and improve the livelihoods in banana growing communities. They created a unique model where suppliers, organized through the AgroFair farmers' cooperative, hold partial ownership. This venture proved highly successful, and Agrofair is an influential player in the banana industry to this day.
After various jobs in the corporate and non-governmental sectors, Wim and Jeroen have reunited with a common goal: to collaborate once more in bolstering social enterprises, amplifying their impact and fostering sustainable growth.
Jeroen is a pragmatic idealist and strategic thinker, who combines analytical skills with a sharp eye for diverse individual and societal interests.
As a people oriented development economist, he has devoted his career to sustainable and social business development. He lived and worked in Ecuador, where he pioneered in the Fairtrade export business, building up a cooperative of banana farmers. After that, he became managing director of the impact driven fruit company AgroFair. During the past decade, he managed programmes for sustainable coffee, cocoa, tea and fruit at Solidaridad and served as senior corporate partnership manager, co-creating sustainability strategies, setting up joint projects in developing countries and developing impactful partnerships with private companies that want to do things right.
Wim combines a business oriented mindset with a strong commitment to the greater good. He equally emphasizes on cultivating relationships and delivering tangible results.
After working for Deloitte and becoming a Certified Public Auditor (RA), he transitioned to run AgroFair, together with Jeroen. Whilst AgroFair was impact driven by origin, he later managed Boerman Transport, where he led “with love”.
Presently, next to setting up Mudita Cooperative, he is running Cooperate Green, a consulting company assisting organizations in ESG-reporting. He also advices and supports the Fairtrade banana company Volta River Estates Ltd., which stands as a prime example of potential investments for Mudita.
